Role Summary

The Kitchen Assistant reports directly to the Executive Chef.


  • To ensure that the kitchen is kept to a high hygiene standard and to assist in the preparation and serving of a variety of food.
  • To carry out assigned and delegated tasks under the supervision of the Executive Chef.
  • Assist in the operation of standard cooking equipment such as oven/hob, boilers, steamers, toasters, choppers etc.
  • Participate and direct in the cleaning of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Provide drinks to residents.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures relevant to the job role including those that incorporate health and safety, HACCP, infection control and waste disposal.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Chef. The foregoing should not be considered exhaustive.



Essential - No educational qualifications are required
Desirable - HACCP Certified
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant
- Understanding of health and safety policy, with special emphasis on the kitchen

Professional knowledge
Essential - Demonstrate sound knowledge of older persons

- Good communication and interpersonal skills
