At Abbot Close we pride ourselves on our varied and busy Social and Recreational calendar. Our Programmes are led by Pamela the Activities Co-ordinator, all staff are also involved in the activities of our nursing home. This enables us to provide Individualised programmes where staff and residents can interact together. Programes are prepared for each resident taking into account their hobbies and interests. By providing a wide and varied programme calander we aim to achieve a fulfilling and unique homely envioroment here at Abbot Close.

Social outings and trips are a big part of our schedule, some favourites include  trips to Bunratty Castle and the Donkey Sanctuary.
We have our different  social areas and the Residents enjoy watching all the sports, Tennis,Rugby, Golf, football and GAA  matches. Especially the Limerick WIN on our big screens.

Daily newspapers are delivered to residents so they can keep up on the latest world news. We also have a Library, we have a large range of books, audio books and large print books. We have recently been given an injection of books from the very generious Limerick City Library and they have assured us they will continue to supply us with new books.

The men shed group has just been set up at the latter end of 2018. We are currently working on a building project. We are in the construction stage of a minature farm, consisting of farm house and out buildings and animals. We hope to have it completed in the summer. We have recruited a voluinteer from the community to help us in ouren shed activities. The men meet have a chat, play a game of cards, talk about the current topics in the news. We have the odd trip to the local for a pint of Guinness.  We hope to go on social outings to places of interest to the group.

In the good weather we go on walks in the local vacinity, and make use of our beautiful gardens at Abbot Close. We have had many tea parties and the annual BBQ in our gardens. Our hope for next spring is to have some raised beds to begin growing our own herbs and vegetables. We currently plant and maintain the hanging baskets and planters in our garden. This year we are having raised beds built, we are going to start growing some vegetables and herbs.
We like to facilitate as many interests and hobbies that the residents have. We are always open to new things to do.
