Occupational Therapy (OT)

A full time senior occupational therapist (OT) is employed to work with residents to promoting health, wellbeing and independence through occupation. The senior occupational therapist carries out assessments for seating, activities of daily living and aids/equipment. The OT has an integral role in pressure ulcer prevention and management through cushion prescription and pressure relieving recommendations and works closely with the MDT team to promote skin integrity. Specially designed programmes are developed based on the residents care needs.

The OT works collaboratively with residents who have a wide range of health needs or conditions such as:

  • Acquired and non-acquired brain injuries; Neurological conditions (Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s).
  • Physical conditions - (Spinal cord injury, post orthopaedic surgeries).
  • Mental health conditions - (Depression, psychosis, anxiety).
  • Elderly care - (long-term care, short stay).
  • Intellectual disability, rehabilitation.
