Clarenbridge Nursing Home winners at Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards 2016

Clarenbridge Nursing Home, located in Clarenbridge, county Galway is celebrating after winning in two award categories at the Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards 2016, in association with Homecare Medical Supplies. Clarenbridge Nursing Home took home two honours at the national awards ceremony that was hosted at Citywest Hotel, County Dublin, on Wednesday 16th November.

Clarenbidge winners were:

  • Frances Neilan, winner of the Nursing / Person in Charge Award
  • Sarah McDonagh, winner of the Nursing Home Catering and Nutrition Award

Frances and Sarah received their awards before a crowd of 500 at the prestigious awards ceremony that was hosted by RTE presenter Mary Whelan. Minister with Responsibility for Older Persons Helen McEntee TD presented the awards. 27 finalists from counties and communities across Ireland went forward for nine award categories that recognised nurses, carers, catering & nutrition, ancillary workers, social & recreational activities, dementia care, and end of life care.

Tadhg Daly, Nursing Homes Ireland CEO extended his congratulations to Frances and Sarah.

Speaking in respect of Frances and Sarah, he said: “Congratulations to Frances and Sarah for their magnificent achievements in winning the Director of Nursing and Catering and Nutrition Awards. The standard of entry for all the award categories was of an exceptional level and to receive this national recognition is a fantastic accomplishment. I’m sure residents and staff at Clarenbridge Nursing Home are immensely proud of Frances and Sarah’s accomplishments and this should extend beyond the nursing home into the wider community. The Awards recognise care excellence within nursing homes across the country. The fantastic dedication and commitment of staff within these homes from home are enhancing the lives of people in their care.

Now in their seventh year, nominations for the Care Awards were invited and submitted by NHI’s 370 Members who are based in communities across Ireland. Nominations were submitted by nursing home residents, visitors to nursing homes, staff, and the general public.
